The Breed
The Dorper is a hardy meat sheep breed. It is a strong sheep well suited to tough conditions. Being a non-selective feeder they perform better on native pastures than many other breeds. The Dorper is a barrell shape, hornless with short black hair on the head and neck and white hair on the body. They have black hooves which require little maintenance. Lambs are born small, which means fewer lambing difficulties. Most ewes, provided they are in good condition at joining, will bear twins.
At Hillsborough Dorpers we are selecting Dorper for hardiness, size and good shedding ability.
